We answer questions about how these programs work. We cannot check your application, change your benefit, or send you a tablet — those all sit with the program and your provider, and the right numbers for them are below.

We aim to reply within [TWO] working days. We are a small operation, so please be patient — and if your question is urgent and about your own benefit, the official numbers below will always be faster than we can be.

Useful things to include: which page you were reading, which state you are in, and what you were trying to find out. It saves a round trip.

What we can help with

  • Understanding how Lifeline works and whether you are likely to qualify
  • Making sense of an error message or a document request
  • Corrections — if something on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us
  • Press, research and partnership inquiries

What we cannot help with

  • Checking, speeding up or appealing your application
  • Anything to do with a device you have already ordered
  • Billing, coverage or technical support for your carrier
  • Approving anyone — we have no role in the program at all

Who to contact instead

For anything about your own application or benefit, these are the people who can actually act:

Lifeline Support Center — (800) 234-9473, or [email protected]. This is the right number for application questions, document problems, recertification and de-enrollment.

Your provider — for anything about a device, a plan, shipping or billing. They hold your account; we do not.

Your state public utility commission — if you are in California, Oregon or Texas, your program is administered at state level and the state body is the correct first contact.

Suspected fraud — report it to the FCC and to the Federal Trade Commission. If someone has your EBT card details, contact your state EBT office immediately as well.

Corrections

If we have published something inaccurate, we want to know, and we would rather hear it bluntly than not at all. Email us with the page and what is wrong. We check it against the primary source, fix it if you are right, and note the change on the page. Our full approach is in the editorial policy.
